Quickly writing something down is easiest in the Notes app on your iPhone. Still, the application can come in handy more often than you think. In this guide, we provide five tips for getting the most out of the Notes app.
This way you get more out of the Notes app
The Notes app has been improved several times by Apple in iOS updates and now the possibilities with the app are quite large. Use it as a gathering place for your school notes, scribbles, shopping lists or even diary. There are several ways in which the Notes app can make your life a bit nicer or easier.
1. Personalize
In the ‘Notes’ menu in the Settings app you can personalize the Notes app to your taste. Select how you want your notes sorted, whether they always have a title or not, and choose how tables should look. You can also set that photos you take via Notes are saved in your photo roll.
2. Secure
When you add personal things or sensitive information in notes, it is smart to secure the app. That way no one can just rummage through your writings. In the settings menu you can set a special password for the app. Conveniently, once you have set that up, you can also open the app with Touch ID or Face ID.
Do you only want to protect certain notes instead of the entire app? That is also possible. Swipe the note you want under lock and key to the right and press the lock. This is only possible if you synchronize the notes with iCloud.
3. Add photos and scans
If you want to save a specific document, letter or written notes, the Notes app also offers a solution. Since iOS 11 you can scan documents, take and add photos or videos or even create and insert a drawing.
4. Create tables
Do you need more overview in the note you are making? Then use a table. As soon as the bar above your keyboard is visible in a note, press the grid icon on the far left. This will add a table to the note. You can adjust this yourself and make it as big as you want. You can then quickly share the table with others via the same button.
5. Add to Control Panel or Widgets
To get to the app and get on your iPhone even faster, it is useful to create a shortcut to Notes. To do this, you add the app to the Control Panel. When you slide from the bottom to the top or from the iPhone X from the top right corner, you can open a note with the touch of a button.
To set this up, go to the ‘Control panel’ menu in Settings. At ‘Adjust controls’ you then add Notes to the panel. In the Notes settings you can then choose what opens when you enter the app from there: your last note, a new one or the overview. Press and hold the button in the Control Panel to choose what type of new note you want to add, such as a document scan or checklist.
Would you rather be able to quickly see what your latest notes are? Then add a widget. To do this, go to the left-most screen on your iPhone and press ‘Edit’ at the bottom. Here you can then add a Notes widget to the screen.
