Hacks and Malware are becoming more and more common on the Mac. But we haven’t seen a hacking app that you get money for if it doesn’t work.
Hack app takes over every Mac
This is really strange: a hacker will give you $100,000 if his malware doesn’t work. Well, you must of course wonder how ethical it is to use this hacking app, but there are even more snags.
The app costs $ 60,000 for a ‘lifetime’ version. But you can upgrade, because for an extra $20,000 you get even more malicious features in your arsenal. It reportedly allows you to take over any Mac running a vulnerable version of macOS Ventura (or earlier).
Hacking software cannot be traced
The hacking app is based on HVNC (Hidden Virtual Network Computer). HVNC is a variant of VNC (Virtual Network Computer). This is a tool that is often used to take over a computer remotely. IT administrators in particular use this kind of functionality to help users with their computer problems.
The annoying thing about HVNC is that you don’t see this software running on your Mac. Most scanners do not recognize the hacking app and it will continue to run even if you restart your Mac.
This is how you protect your Mac against this hack
The easiest way to protect against this hacking app on Mac is to upgrade to the latest version of macOS Ventura. The hack app only works up to and including macOS Ventura 13.2. The most recent version at the time of writing is macOS Ventura 13.5.
So make sure you always install updates for your Mac as soon as possible. Of course, it’s still important to use common sense and not open strange attachments in your email or install apps from outside the Mac App Store.
