Well-known camera app Halide comes with a new feature for the iPhone 8 and newer: macro mode. We recently saw macro mode on the iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max.
Macro mode no longer exclusive to iPhone 13 Pro thanks to Halide
Camera app Halide today announced a major update for the iPhone 8 and newer. The update – version 2.5 – brings macro mode to older iPhones. Macro mode is one of the great new features of the iPhone 13 Pro. Thanks to the feature, users can capture objects as close as 2 centimeters away.
The new macro mode feature is very accessible, said Halide’s Ben Sandofsky. “Macrophotography is a conscious ‘mode’ within Halide. That is not the case on the iPhone 13 Pro; the smartphone switches automatically. The wide-angle lens in Halide still automatically focuses on subjects that come very close. However, we believe that macro shooting will work best if the mode supports different shooting styles.”
To access Halide’s macro mode, tap the AF button. Then tap the button with the tulip. Fun fact: Halide’s designer – Sebastiaan de With – is Dutch. Hence the tulip. Halide is available for free on the App Store. Do you really want all the features? Then the app costs a certain amount every month. Macro mode is included in the free version.
