The new Honda Civic Type R is approaching fast, but with the current one you also get something special. Especially if it is the Civic Type R that belonged to Max Verstappen. It is now for sale for charity.
The combination Max Verstappen and Honda was one to pass through. After a number of difficult years with Renault as the engine supplier, Verstappen’s team Red Bull Racing could finally go for the world title with Honda. Now it is unfortunately time to say goodbye, because Honda is leaving Formula 1. New world champion Verstappen is also saying goodbye to Honda, partly by selling his Civic Type R.
Whether the car really stood in Verstappen’s garage in Monaco and was regularly driven by him is somewhat questionable. Verstappen has certainly driven it once and has provided the car with his signature. The white Civic Type R (photo above for illustration) can now go for charity. The fixed price is very appropriate €33,333, of course a reference to the starting number of Max, 33. A price that is very reasonable for a used Type R of the departing generation. So this time you don’t have to put down tons to get a potential collector’s item to get on wheels.
The car is being sold by one of Verstappen’s sponsors, Carnext. The company will announce on Friday to whom the car will be sold, there will probably be quite a bit of enthusiasm. The proceeds will go to ‘Wings for Life’, a charity founded by Red Bull CEO Dietrich Mateschitz. Wings for Life is committed to research into the treatment of spinal cord injuries.
