How to create your avatar on Instagram?

Instagram includes an option to create an avatar in your image. You can then use them as stickers in your stories to punctuate your private conversations.

For several years now, Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, has got into the habit of looking at what the competition is doing in order to draw inspiration from it very largely. After copying Bitmojis from Snapchat to create its Avatars on Facebook in 2020, the firm also deployed them on Instagram. If you had already created your Avatar on Facebook, Instagram authorizes you to use the same ones, provided that your Facebook account is connected in your Account space.

If, on the other hand, you do not yet have an avatar in your image, you can create it quite simply from the Instagram settings. Once your virtual “you” has been created, you can use it as stickers to illustrate your stories, or to animate your conversations in the application’s direct messaging. It is also possible to activate them in the application.

1. Go to Settings

Open the Instagram mobile app, head to your profile, and tap on the hamburger menu displayed at the top right. Then enter the Settings of the application, then in Accounts, go to the Avatar menu.

2. Create your avatar

If you already have an avatar on Facebook and your account is connected to Instagram, the app should suggest you use it. Otherwise, Instagram should prompt you to create one.

To do this, press the Start button, select one of the predefined templates displayed on the screen, and press Customize.

3. Customize your avatar

If the chosen avatar does not completely resemble you, you can customize it. To do this, select a Body from the toolbar, then review each of the following parameters to customize the characteristics of your character, so that it corresponds to you as much as possible.

You will be able to modify the tone of your skin, select a haircut and color, choose the shape and color of the eyes, customize the shade and shape of your eyebrows, add accessories, etc. Once you’ve customized all of your features, press Finish, then Save Changes to save your avatar’s appearance.

4. Use your avatar on Instagram

You can use your avatar in several ways on Instagram. From a Story, press the Stickers button then, in the pane that unfolds, select Avatar.

Then choose the avatar you want to insert in your post. After moving, resizing, or rotating it, you can post your story. Note that you can also use your avatars in the same way (from stickers), within Instagram’s direct messaging.
