Want to remove a Wi-Fi network from your iPhone? Now this only works if you are connected to the network. As of iOS 16, this changes as you can delete all your old Wi-Fi networks in the Settings app.
Remove old Wi-Fi networks
In the upcoming iOS 16 update, Apple fixes multiple Wi-Fi annoyances. So it’s finally possible to view your Wi-Fi password and Apple makes it easier to share it with someone, because you can also copy the password.
Another interesting improvement is that there is finally a way to clean up the list of saved Wi-Fi networks. Oddly enough, with iOS 15 or older, it’s only possible to delete a network if you’re connected to it.
Wi-Fi remove iPhone
To use the new option, you need iOS 16. The software is currently in beta and is expected to be released at the end of September. This is how to delete old Wi-Fi networks on your iPhone in iOS 16:
- Open the Settings app;
- Tap ‘Wi-Fi’;
- Tap ‘Edit’ in the top right;
- Press the red button next to a network and choose ‘Delete’.
You can also tap the ‘i’ to get information about the Wi-Fi network. In this way it is also possible to see the password of an old WiFi network.
Or via the Mac
So to use the option, you have to wait for iOS 16. Do you have a Mac? Then this is already possible. Go to ‘System Preferences>Network>Wi-Fi’ and click on ‘Advanced’. Select a WiFi network and click on the minus. Syncing with iCloud should then ensure that the network also disappears from the iPhone.
