Since the early 2000s, Clubic has brought together a community of new technology enthusiasts. This community is for us and our readers the best evidence of the quality of the content offered on the site. We are committed to respecting three essential commitments to carry out our activity in the best conditions: transparency, independence and expertise.
The story of Clubic, in three acts
The site launched in beta since 1997, was officially opened to the public in May 2000. It is the result of the meeting of two sites, power-pc.com and start.com. At the time, Clubic offered computer news coverage, a discussion forum, a software library and a price comparison on computer equipment.
2000 to 2008: the Cyrealis era
Cyrealis, the publishing company of Clubic based in Lyon, will gradually set up an independent media group around various sites specializing in digital.
- in 2002, the group created a general price comparator, buyeasy.comwhich shares the offer indexing technology already present on Clubic.com
- in 2005, Cyrealis took over Jeuxvideo.fra media site on the world of video games which will become a reference in this area, in particular thanks to its original video formats
- in 2005, the group also bought the sites neteco.com and mobilenaute.comthen specialized in the life of “entrepreneurs” and jobs in the net economy
- in 2007, Cyrealis bought i-medias.bizwho will become Ozap.coma site specializing in information in the audiovisual sector.
2008 to 2018: the M6 Web era
In 2008, Cyrealis was bought by the M6 group, and the group’s sites joined the M6 Web subsidiary, which publishes a portfolio of thematic sites, in particular deco.fr and turbo.fr the sites of the group’s broadcasts. Clubic.com will evolve for 10 years within the M6 group with an editorial staff of more than 20 journalists divided between Lyon and Paris. At the end of 2017, the M6 group decided to focus its site publishing activity on themes related to the group’s programs (cooking, decoration, auto) and put on sale Clubic.com.
Since 2018: independence regained!
Since 2018, the site has been published by Clubic SAS, an independent company created by Florent Maitre, Philippe du Noyer, Richard Dos Anjos, Jerry Nieuviarts and Nicolas Rosset (the former founders of Cyrealis). Clubic has therefore once again been 100% independent since 2018. The new company has set itself an ambition: to make Clubic the best source of information and sharing of expertise for enthusiasts of new technologies.
Clubic’s development project is based on three fundamentals: an engaged community, reasoned monetization and an impeccable user experience.
The Club team
The quality of our content is the main concern of the Clubic team. Our most loyal readers are also the most demanding, we are like them.
To offer the most complete and cutting-edge articles possible, we collaborate with specialized and passionate editors, who have already acquired a certain recognition. When an article is written about a product or service, with some exceptions, the article writer has (or had) the product in his hands, and we ask him to be as objective and as precise as possible.
We want editors and readers to be able to share their expertise in the comments, which is very often the case and certainly enriches everyone’s knowledge, which is our raison d’être.

Clubic’s business model
The advertisement
Like most media, advertising is a source of revenue on which Clubic relies to finance its development. We want it to be reasoned, that it does not affect the comfort of reading on a computer or on a smartphone; so we regularly evaluate the advertising pressure to make sure that we assume it. Over the past 10 years, abuses have led Internet users to react, gradually adopting adblockers. We are aware of the situation and, in a logic of long-term development, we rely on reasoned, well-integrated and tolerated advertising!
Membership
This is the second source of income on which we rely. More discreet than traditional advertising, it is in our view a virtuous model to ensure the development of Clubic.
When we mention a product in our columns, it may refer to a partner, e-merchant or publisher. If you buy this product, Clubic is commissioned on the amount of this purchase.
However, since the majority of products are part of this type of program, this does not encourage us to be biased. We do not choose to tell you about a product, to recommend it or to test it only to refer you to a partner.
sponsored content
Some brands contact us to talk about them or their product(s) for a fee. Our position is clear: first we only talk about brands with which we have an affinity and products which we believe will meet the expectations of our readers.
The team itself chooses the topics of the sponsored articles and the way it treats them. This is a policy that we have always applied on Clubic and it has never changed. The editorial team coordinates all content published on the site, including sponsored content. The choice of words, titles or editorial angle are systematically proposed by the editorial staff for the sake of consistency with Clubic’s DNA. These mentions appear on our general conditions of sale to which our partners adhere.
In addition, when an article is sponsored, we automatically note it in the content feeds and at the beginning and end of the article. Even if we wanted to do otherwise, we couldn’t: it’s the law. A point that is always useful to remember.
Finally, if we consider that comments are the guarantee of a unifying site, which is one of our priorities, it is clear that we leave them open within our sponsored content to help us improve them. .
The Clubic community
Clubic has always aimed to federate a community of computer enthusiasts. Since the early 2000s, and long before the advent of social networks, the Clubic forum has long been one of the best channels for sharing knowledge and solving problems.
A community cannot exist without respecting a few rules of conduct that allow members of the community to have constructive exchanges and with respect for other members. We have established a community charter that summarizes these main principles.
A forum cannot exist permanently without the involvement of a moderation team. Clubic is fortunate to be able to count on a team of volunteer moderators present on the forum since its inception: AdminOfPlaygroup, AmigaJV, Biscuit, Blackalf, Cassin, Dzeddar, jeanguy, juju251, kaelkael, kyosho62, lejeferson, moa, Palou, paulposition and pitinonoz . We thank them for their daily investment (heart with fingers).
