GM is working on a Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray. We can already see the lease driver beaming, because that sounds like an electric crossover in the style of the Ford Mustang Mach-E is on the way. However, the Corvette E-Ray is a very real Corvette C8, but indeed electrified.

What the Corvette E-Ray is, is a hybrid version of the Corvette C8. That could still be somewhat good news for the Dutch enthusiast, who, thanks to an electrical aid, will in theory receive less bpm and therefore a lower price. Whether that will really be the case, however, is highly questionable. The expectation is that the E-Ray, a name that was previously registered by the Americans, will be placed higher on the ladder than the regular Stingray. There is talk about a positioning between those models, which would in fact make the hybrid C8 a successor to the C7 Grand Sport.

This suspicion is confirmed by the photos. They show a Corvette with the appearance of a Z06, including its unique air intakes in the side and more aggressive front bumper. The only difference: the rear bumper, which, with its exhaust arrangement, comes from the regular Stingray. By the way, the spotted car is the convertible, which makes it very likely that the E-Ray will appear in both body styles. The photographer states that the car sounded less aggressive than a Z06, although it is expected that a V8 will still be present. A market launch is expected at the end of 2022, after which we will of course also know how fast and ‘economical’ this Corvette is.
