Later this month, the facelifted 992 generation of the Porsche 911 will be unveiled. The arrival of a hybrid drivetrain is big news. We’re already getting some promising news about that hybrid Porsche 911.

It will probably take some getting used to for some, but the Porsche 911 is also going with the hybrid drive. Obviously, not all versions will be electrified at once, but it is a start. It is not entirely clear exactly which version(s) this concerns, nor does Porsche reveal exactly how the drivetrain works. In any case, it is now clear that the hybrid power ensures a much faster lap time on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife.

The hybrid Porsche 911 was driven around the famous circuit in the Eifel in a time of 7:16.934. According to Porsche, this is 8.7 seconds faster than a comparable version of the current pre-facelift 992. It should have achieved a lap time of around 7:25. Porsche promoted the GTS in 2021 with such a lap time, so that could mean that it is the GTS. Jörg Bergmeister clocked the new time and said the following about it: “The new 911 is considerably faster on the track. The car has more grip, significantly more power and the fast accelerator pedal response of the hybrid powertrain is a big advantage.”

On May 28, Porsche will present the facelifted 911, which was recently exposed to the heat of Dubai.
