Hyundai for the do-it-yourselfer

Hyundai has presented a very striking creation. The brand has digitally removed the canvas from a real soap box.

No, the green angled tub on wheels you see in these photos isn’t an eccentric concept car looking ahead to a Hyundai MX-5 competitor. Yet this brand new creation is hardly less fun. We are dealing with a real soap box!

The green ‘Soapbox’ in these photos would simply deserve a television appearance in Ter Land, Ter Zee and in de Lucht. Hyundai says it has made a soap box, a non-motorized vehicle, which you can basically assemble yourself. The bathtub, developed and designed in the Hyundai Europe Design Center, is design-inspired by the 45 Concept, says Hyundai. The company says it has developed the Soapbox to bring friends and family together.

According to Hyundai, the 1.76 meter short Soapbox is completely made up of relatively cheap materials that you can buy at almost any hardware store. A conventional steering wheel is therefore not included. The monster can be changed course by means of two screwdrivers acting as joysticks. The ‘cockpit’ is made of wood, while the whole is held together by rods, clamps and screws. The special and according to Hyundai yellow paint of the Soapbox is a derivative of the similar introduction color of the Kona. It’s all downhill from here, in a literal sense.
