Bridge between two periods

Later this year Hyundai will present the Ioniq 5 N, the absolute top version of the Ioniq 5. In an extensive teaser campaign, the brand is releasing more and more information about the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N and now we get to know two remarkable details: you can switch gears and you hear still the roar of a fuel engine.
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is a striking electric car in itself and you are not easily shy about power, but that does not prevent Hyundai from releasing a really hard sports version. Just as Kia brought the very strong GT version of its EV6, sister brand Hyundai is introducing an N version of the Ioniq 5. A car that will not only be stronger than the already well-known Ioniqs 5, but also goes a step further in terms of handling. It’s not for nothing that Hyundai’s N division prides itself on developing its cars on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife. We recently saw how much fun the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N should be able to bring in the corners.
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N gets a real drift mode and it doesn’t stop there in terms of old-fashioned entertainment. In a new teaser video we see that the Ioniq 5 N gets paddle shifters, which is of course remarkable for an EV. Not only are shift points simulated in the powertrain, you also hear them clearly. The Ioniq 5 N gets speakers that emit the sound of a fuel engine, although there is also a clear effect over the sound. No doubt you can turn off the sound if you prefer to embrace electric driving with open arms and don’t like such artificial extras.
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N will be unveiled in July and then we will also hear more about how switching in it works exactly. Until then, there are some new images to keep the anticipation somewhat:
