Two powertrains and many SEPP-subsidised versions
The new Hyundai Kona was already available as a mild hybrid and as a full hybrid. AutoWeek can now also tell you the prices of the electric Hyundai Kona Electric. It is available from just under 40 grand and is available with two powertrains. The most potent of the bunch can travel 514 kilometers on a full battery.
Like the previous generation Hyundai Kona, the new model is also available with three very different powertrains. It is available as a mild hybrid, as a real hybrid and also with fully electric powertrains. The previous Kona Electric was very popular in the Netherlands, so it is not surprising that the arrival of the new Hyundai Kona Electric was eagerly awaited. AutoWeek has now got hold of the prices.
The new Hyundai Kona Electric is just like the previous one with two powertrains. The outgoing Kona is available with a 39 kWh battery pack and 136 hp electric motor and with a 64 kWh battery and a 204 hp electric heart. The new Kona Electric is technically advanced. The least potent has a 48.4 kWh battery pack and a 156 hp and 255 Nm powerful electric motor on the front wheels. In addition, this time there is a variant with 65.4 kWh of electric lung capacity and an electric motor with 217 hp and 255 Nm.
Performance Hyundai Kona Electric
The Kona Electric with 48.4 kWh battery buzzes to 100 km / h in 8.8 seconds and has a range of 377 kilometers. Its top speed is 162 km/h. The more potent Kona Electric reaches 100 km/h from standstill in 7.8 seconds, has a top speed of 172 km/h and has a range of up to 514 kilometers. Until, indeed. You only get that range – on paper – with the version on 17-inch light metal. This Kona Electric with 65.4 kWh battery is also available with 19-inch wheels, although you have to be satisfied with a range of 454 kilometers.
Prices Hyundai Kona Electric
The Hyundai Kona Electric with a 48.4 kWh battery and 156 hp electric heart is available in two versions: Comfort and Comfort Smart. The first costs €39,995, the second €41,895. There are no other versions. Are you going for the more powerful Kona Electric with the larger battery pack? Then there is more to choose from. It is available as a Comfort from €43,995 and as a Comfort Smart must fetch €45,895. Above that are the Premium and Premium Sky, which cost €49,995 and €51,195 respectively. The Comfort and Comfort Smart versions, regardless of the engine, have 17-inch wheels. The Kona Electric with the most powerful powertrain in Comfort Smart trim can be fitted with 19-inch wheels for an additional fee (€995). These are standard on the Premium and Premium Sky. If you have a Kona Electric Premium or Premium Sky and still want the smaller 17-inch wheels because of the larger range, this can be done without additional costs.
The Hyundai Kona Electric is eligible for SEPP purchase subsidy with both the weaker and the stronger engine. The Premium and Premium Sky versions of the Hyundai Kona Electric with a 65.4-kWh battery are the only variants whose tax value exceeds 45 grand. These versions are therefore not eligible for SEPP subsidy.
