Hyundai shares improved WLTP range Kona Electric

Hyundai announced earlier that the Kona Electric will be a bit further by an update, but we still had to be patient about the official WLTP report. It’s in now!

The Kona Electric is available with two battery packages: 39 kWh and 64 kWh. Previously, according to the WLTP measurements, these successively came to 289 and 449 kilometers on one full battery charge. Hyundai now announces that the 39 kWh version 305 kilometers and the Kona with a 64 kWh battery pack 484 kilometers far. That is an increase of 8 percent. Remarkably, according to Hyundai, the increased radius of action has been achieved by mounting a new set of Michelin tires, which would have reduced rolling resistance.

On a 3-phase charger, the Kona needs 4:50 hours (39 kWh) and 7:25 hours (64 kWh) to be recharged. A 100 kW fast charger takes 54 minutes in both cases. Prices start at € 36,795 for the entry-level Kona Electric, the type with a larger battery pack costs at least € 41,595. The opening of a European production line has, Hyundai says, that delivery times have been considerably shortened and customers who now order a copy are already driving their new Kona Electric for the coming summer.
