IFA 2020: round-up Wednesday

IFA 2020

Despite the corona virus, the IFA fair in Berlin is still going ahead. In a slimmed-down and especially digital form, but that means that we can again count on great products this week. We will take you through the five most interesting products from Wednesday 2 September.

Harman Kardon Citation 200

For example, Harman Kardon has presented a number of new products, including the Harman Kardon Citation 200. This is a speaker with support for WiFi and Bluetooth, which will be available later this year for 349 euros.

The device has a 1 inch tweeter, a 5 inch midrange driver and two passive radiators for deep bass reproduction. You stream music in high definition via Apple AirPlay 2 and Google Chromecast. You can also control your music with a simple “Hey, Google” command. Thanks to the support for the two platforms mentioned above, the Harman Kardon Citation can also be included in a multiroom speaker network.

The Citation 200, which was announced during IFA 2020, has a built-in battery that lasts up to six hours. Charging is via the supplied stand or simply via USB-C. Just like its cousins, the Citation 200 is also equipped with a cover made of mixed wool from Kvadrat.

Samsung Galaxy A42 5G

Samsung will of course also be present at IFA 2020 and will announce all kinds of products via digital conferences. Take the Samsung Galaxy A42 5G for example.

This is a new addition to the affordable A-series from the South Korean company. This is also one of the most affordable smartphones with support for 5g networks. The device has been given a price of 379 euros. There you get, among other things, a super AMOLED screen of 6.6 inches in front and a camera module of four sensors on the back.

We also know that the front camera is located in the screen notch at the top and that the battery has a capacity of 5000 mAh. You can charge that battery via USB-C.

The phone will be for sale in the Netherlands from the beginning of November.

Samsung The Premiere

We’ll stay with Samsung for a while with the announcement of The Premiere. This is an ultra short throw projector that you can place close to the wall, with which you can realize a large image of 130 or 120 inches.

It concerns two different models, the LSP9T and LSP7T respectively. The last model, the LSP9T is the first projector with an HDR10 + certificate. The maximum brightness lights up at 2800 ANSI lumens. There is also triple laser technology for a clear contrast reproduction.

In addition, there is support for the Filmmaker Mode, with which the image settings for films can be configured as filmmakers intended. You also get access to Samsung’s Smart TV platform, which allows you to access various streaming services.

The Premiere will be available in the Netherlands from this fall. The LSP9T has a suggested retail price of 6,499 euros and the LSP7T costs 3,499 euros.

Innr RS 226

We also have homegrown IFA 2020 news. The Dutch manufacturer of smart lighting, Innr, has announced a new spotlight (GU10): the RS 226.

This is the successor to the RS 225. Compared to that lamp, the new version must spread light more evenly, and therefore more naturally. This is due to so-called cob technology. When an LED lamp has this positioning technology, many LED points are placed close to each other. For example, it is no longer visible from a distance and with the naked eye that all kinds of small LED points are present. As a result, you can use such lamps as an excellent replacement for the halogen lamp.

You can connect the lamp to the bridge from Innr, Samsung SmartThings or Philips Hue. You can also control the lamps with voice commands via Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa. If you use the Amazon Echo Plus or Echo Show, you don’t need a separate bridge. This is because it is incorporated in those smart speakers.

The maximum color temperature is 2700 Kelvin. Each LED has a power consumption of 4.8 watts and is designed to burn for an average of 25,000 hours. The new lamp is on sale from this month.

IFA 2020

JBL PartyBox 310

JBL also had a number of products ready for IFA 2020. One of those products is the JBL PartyBox 310, the successor to the PartyBox 300. The mobile speaker (there are wheels underneath) has a power of 240 watts, a battery life of eighteen hours and LED lights that respond to the beat of the music.

In addition, there is an ipx4 certificate (it can withstand some drops of moisture), has DJ music control with backlit buttons and you can connect a microphone and electric guitar. You play your music via Bluetooth or USB and are also able to connect a second JBL PartyBox 310 for stereo playback. You can set the music and control the lights with the free app.

The JBL PartyBox 310 costs 499 euros and is available from this month.
