Do you never use Apple Maps but always use Google Maps? Good news: you can soon set the default navigation app in iOS 18!
In iOS 18 you can set a default navigation app
If you always use Google Maps on your iPhone, it is quite annoying that your smartphone still regularly opens Apple Maps. This is no longer the case with iOS 18, because you then get the option to change the default navigation app.
You just have to wait a little longer. iOS 18 will likely be released sometime in September 2024. But then the function will not be there yet. Apple has said that setting a standard navigation app will not happen until March 2025. That will probably be in an update to iOS 18.
More big changes coming
Apple will soon also allow you to remove Safari from your iPhone. This feature should arrive before the end of this year. Unlike setting your default navigation app, Apple already allows you to set other browsers as default.
Apple also plans to introduce an option sometime between late 2024 and early 2025 that will make it easier to transfer your data from one browser to another.
It should also soon become easier to switch from an iPhone to another non-Apple smartphone. Apple plans to make this feature available sometime in the fall of 2025.
There are a lot of changes coming in iOS 18
iOS 18 will be a major update for your iPhone. There are many new functions related to artificial intelligence coming to your device. But that’s not the only thing that will change. According to rumors, the design will also be significantly overhauled.
