This portion of winter fare comes from the extensive testing program to which Polestar subjects its new models. After all, every new Polestar has to perform optimally under the most summery, but also winter weather conditions. In between testing, the developers worked on the recipe for a perfect ice racer. And that’s what this Polestar 2 Arctic Circle has become.

This Polestar is faster and more agile

Basically it is a Polestar 2 with Performance package and Öhlins shock absorbers. The latter have been re-adjusted by the Polestar and Öhlins techs. As a result, the Arctic Circle now has a 30 percent softer suspension. The torsional stiffness has also been increased, the car is 30 mm higher on the legs, and it received custom-made winter tires with metal studs. These adjustments, and the improved steering response, make the car faster and more agile on snow and ice.

The Long range Dual motor delivers more power

It cannot be warm enough in winter conditions. So Polestar added a hot pepper to its recipe. Recently, the Sino-Swedish manufacturer offers an over-the-air update that boosts the power of the Polestar 2 Long Range Dual Motor with 68 hp. The Arctic Circle has the update as standard. Its two electric motors together deliver 476 hp (350 kW) and 680 Nm of torque.

The car is new launch control has. According to Polestar, the system is still in the development phase and so the manufacturer is silent about the performance of Arctic Circle. It is not yet known whether launch control will be an option on the regular Polestar 2.

A winter outfit

To make the Arctic Circle look appetizing, Polestar has reworked both the interior and exterior. The car is equipped with special 19-inch rally wheels, a unique color scheme, a set of LED lamps on the nose and a different front bumper with carbon fiber protection plate. The custom Recaro sports seats, finished with golden yellow details, ensure that you stay in place even during the most intense ice ballet.

Unfortunately, the ‘Arctic Circle’ is not going into production

Drifting on a frozen lake is a popular sport in Sweden. So it’s no surprise that the Arctic Circle excels at it. He throws his ass against the crib with ease and crawls sideways like a crab from one icy bend to the next. It is therefore a pity that we cannot taste the extreme Polestar 2 ourselves.
