SUVs are popular and variants with a steeply sloping roofline are on the rise in that high-legged segment. The teased Infiniti also comes with such a coupe SUV, a car of which the brand has released a new teaser image.

Infiniti will present a completely new model to the American public on November 11: the QX55. The QX55 is a ‘coupé-SUV’ based on the current generation of the QX50, with which Infiniti basically continues the line it started with an earlier model years ago. In 2002, the Japanese with the FX already introduced an SUV with a sporty character and a relatively sloping roof to the rear. Ultimately, two generations of the FX appeared.

Infiniti, as known as the luxury division of Nissan, aims with its QX55 on coupe SUVs such as the Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupé and the BMW X4. If the QX55 gets the same engines as the QX50, that means at least the arrival of a 2-liter with variable compression ratio that delivers 272 hp and 380 Nm.

The approximately 4.75 meter long QX55 should be available in the summer of next year. You should not expect it in the Netherlands, as Infiniti has since withdrawn from the Western European market.
