Infiniti is working on its first EV. In a teaser image, the brand shows a glimpse of a car that seems to be a harbinger of an electric SUV. To start producing this car and other future EVs, parent company Nissan is investing quite a bit in its Mississippi factory.
The luxury brand of Nissan does not reveal much about its new EV. The photos show part of the front of the car, where the daytime running lights appear to consist of vertical LED stripes spread across the entire width of the car. Also, the Infiniti logo underneath lights up. In addition to Infiniti, Nissan also shows a teaser that it doesn’t say anything about yet. That image shows a continuous LED strip with a headlight on the right that consists of horizontal LED strips. Judging by the photo, this also appears to be an SUV. The two cars may share their platform.
Nissan previously announced that it aims to have 15 all-electric models in its portfolio by 2030, including Infiniti. The brand, together with Renault and Mitsubishi, is allocating €23 billion for this, and there will be five EV platforms in total. The two cars in the teaser will most likely be built at Nissan’s factory in Canton, Mississippi. Nissan is earmarking $500 million to prepare the factory for the production of EVs, which should roll off the production line from 2025. The factory currently produces the Altima, Frontier, Titan and Titan XD.
