Fujifilm Instax Square Link Review
Instax Square Link: Is this the best printer for your iPhone?
Photos made by an instant (or instax) camera are incredibly fun. And admit: who thinks so not Nice to get such a small photo print? But to buy such a camera right away is really too much of a good thing. Why would you too? After all, your smartphone takes great photos, but it would secretly be fun if you could print a photo every now and then.

No problem! With the Fujifilm Instax Square link printer you can. With this one pocket printer You can print almost every photo from your photo library with the look of an Instax photo. The Instax Square Link has a suggested retail price of 149.99 euros. But by shopping a bit of good, you can get it a lot cheaper.
Portable and light
The printer feels very light and is made of plastic. He is a bit like a pillow formed and that looks playful. The bottom has the same bulging as the top and that has a disadvantage. Because of this the printer is sometimes a bit wobbly on the floor. That does not matter for the effect, but it was sometimes a bit annoying. You can also put the printer upright and then it is stable.

Easy to load, but film remains pricey
To print photos with these printer (from your iPhone) you need the special ‘instant movie’. You have to buy this film separately. And unfortunately these special boxes with film are not cheap. A set of 20 square photos for this specific printer costs via the Fujifilm website 18.99 euros. Keep this in mind if you are planning to print many photos.
Clicking in the film is very simple: you look at where the yellow line is on the film and in the printer. Then click the box in the right place in the printer and close the cover. When you then turn on the printer, the protective layer of the film will automatically shift out.

Connect via Bluetooth
The printer connects to your iPhone via Bluetooth in the app. You don’t have to pair it manually first, the app sees it immediately and you only have to tap the name.
Then choose one of the photos on your iPhone to print. Printing a photo goes smoothly and within 10 seconds your photo will roll out of the camera. Then you have to wait a little more from 90 seconds until the image appears completely.
Do you want to print the last printed photo again? Then you have to hold down the special function button on the printer for a while. Handy if you have several friends on the floor and they all want the photo.

Print photos with nice extras
You always print via the app. You can also make small adjustments in this app and stick them in the photo. You have to think of adding texts, frames and small illustrations.
A nice option is the AR function. With this you can put small animations on your photos. They can then be viewed by scanning the QR code on the photo. You must then have the app on your device to view the animation. In the first instance it doesn’t sound very exciting, but the function is actually pretty nice. The animation of the photo moves along when you turn the photo.
No batteries but with battery
Also handy: the printer has a built -in battery. Printing five photos cost around ten percent of the battery. You can charge via the USB-C port on the side. Fully charging took about 90 minutes. It was annoying that the cover of the charging gate at our review version was a bit more difficult to open.
Conclusion: Instax Square Link Printer for your iPhone
It is secretly very nice to print photos of your iPhone with this Instax printer. The little snapshots have a unique charm and attraction. The prints look great and as long as you don’t put them in the sun (especially during the development of the photo) they also stay good for a long time. And the advantage of this printer (and not an Instax camera) is of course that you can always print a photo again.
A disadvantage is that it is so nice to print them that you go through your movie pretty quickly when you have printed a stack of your favorite photos. With one movie you can make 10 (or 20 if you buy the more expensive version) print. And converted, every print costs on average slightly less than a euro.
