Ionity fast charging network expands enormously

Fast charging network Ionity announces a major expansion of the number of fast chargers. Ionity aims to have around 7,000 fast chargers by 2025.

Ionity is a joint venture that includes BMW Group, Daimler, Ford, Volkswagen Group and Hyundai Motor Group. The fast charging network currently has about 1,500 350 kW fast chargers, but there will be significantly more soon.

Ionity invests €700 million in expanding its fast charging network. Ionity wants to have around 7,000 fast chargers by 2025. The charging points will not only be placed along highways, but will also be located near major cities and along other frequently used roads. Not only is the number of chargers per location increasing, the number of charging locations is also growing strongly. From about 400 currently to over 1,000 by 2025.

New Ionity charging locations always receive six to twelve fast chargers. The charging locations may or may not be covered and, depending on the charging locations, even have eateries and shops.
