Last week, Apple released iOS 15.2, a major interim update with many new features. But what does iOS 15.3 have to offer? More is now known about this, because the first beta has been released.
iOS 15.3 beta 1
Apple made the first iOS 15.3 beta available to developers last Friday. The first test version of iPadOS 15.3 has also been released. Developers download the software through the Apple Developer Center, or through the Settings app if the appropriate profile is already installed on an iPhone or iPad.
It seems that Apple changes little with iOS 15.3. According to news site 9to5Mac there are a few minor tweaks to apps like Apple News, but the next mid-term update will bring mostly bug fixes and general improvements.
Universal Control
Interesting in the iOS 15.3 beta 1 are the features that Apple does not add. Universal Control for example. This major update was announced in June during the presentation of iPadOS 15 and macOS Monterey, but has been postponed several times. It looks like we’ll see the feature back with iPadOS 15.4 at the earliest. Apple may even be waiting for iPadOS 16, which will be released in September.
Another innovation that Apple is delaying is support for digital IDs in the Wallet app. The US states of Arizona, Georgia, Connecticut, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Oklahoma, and Utah are the first to implement support for digital IDs, but it’s not yet possible in iOS 15.3.
iOS 15.2
