‘iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 get new homescreen, notifications and more’

With WWDC on the horizon, it is high time for more info about iOS 15 and iPadOS 15. Today Bloomberg is opening a booklet about some major changes.

Bloomberg: iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 get new homescreen

Mark Gurman from Bloomberg has received new information from its sources on iPadOS 15 and iOS 15. The updates to be revealed at WWDC promise to introduce many new features.

Starting with the home screen of iPadOS 15. According to Gurman, it will soon be possible to place widgets on the iPad home screen, just like in iOS 14. Widgets, or expanded versions of apps, are still stuck in the side menu of the iPad.

Smarter notifications for iPhone and iPad

Gurman also writes that the way the iPhone and iPad handle notifications is different. The Apple journalist has heard from his sources that you will soon be able to adjust notifications based on the activity you are doing at the time, such as driving.

This makes it possible, for example, to mute all notification sounds when you are at work. As soon as you drive home, the sound will turn on again. Gurman thinks Apple will also add sounds when apps secretly collect personal information about you.

Unveiling in June

WWDC 2021 will be on June 7th. During this meeting Apple will present iOS 15 and iPadOS 15. Other software, such as watchOS and macOS, will also receive updates. Several test versions will follow after the presentation in June. We expect the final versions of iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 in September, when the iPhone 13 is released.

Not much is known about the new iPhone and iPad updates yet. We do expect more rumors to be added in the coming months. Earlier it was written that iOS 15 will get a new graphic style that is more in line with macOS, the computer software.

iPadOS 15 could then again deal with external screens. This way you can use the Apple tablet as a fully-fledged workstation. For example, the iPad Pro 2021 unveiled last week has the same hardware (M1 chip) as the iMac 2021, so this rumor is very plausible.
