iOS 16 has only just been released, but now we can already try a new test version. iOS 16.1 beta 3 shows us some new things. So what exactly?
iOS 16.1 beta 3 available to developers
Developers can now download the iOS 16.1 beta 3 on their iPhone. In this beta, Apple lets you change various aspects of the iPhone operating system more easily. We therefore see the biggest innovation of iOS 16, the new lockscreen, being adjusted.
With iOS 16.1 beta 3 you can now switch between these and the matching wallpapers even more easily. In this article you can read about all the other innovations of iOS 16.1.
iOS 16.1 beta 3 makes switching between wallpapers easier
With the new lock screen of your iPhone you can create multiple sets via ‘Focus’. These each have their own background and widget. If you now want to switch the wallpaper and lockscreen, because you want to have a more professional wallpaper at work, for example, that’s a bit inconvenient. You have to lock and unlock your iPhone again and then long tap on the lockscreen. Only then can you adjust this mode.
iOS 16.1 beta 3 now lets you do this more easily via the Settings app. There you can also completely personalize it or even create a new background. With the first beta of iOS 16.1, Apple had already made it easier for users to customize their lock screen.
What else is new with iOS 16.1?
The new way of customizing isn’t the only innovation in iOS 16.1. For example, Apple added the option to put the battery percentage back at the top of the screen. However, this was not possible for every phone. With this beta, Apple adds another number of phones to this lineup: the iPhone 11 and the iPhone 13 mini. This update also makes it possible to choose to only charge your iPhone with green energy. Unfortunately, this is not (yet) possible in the Netherlands.
‘Live Activities’ are also back, with iOS 16.1 beta 3 you can finally remove the Wallet app and Apple is rolling out support for Matter, the new smart home standard, for your iPhone.
