iOS 16: This is how you cut and paste text from videos on your iPhone

Apple has expanded the Live Text feature in iOS 16. You can now cut-and-paste text from videos on your iPhone. In this article you can read how to do this.

Live text from videos: from iOS 16 it is possible

In iOS 15, Apple gave us the Live Text feature. With this we copy-and-paste texts from photos. This year is going one step further. As of iOS 16, you can also select live text from videos. Then copy the selected text and paste it, for example, in Pages or in the Notes app.

The feature works in Photos and Safari, among others. Unfortunately, we have not yet got this function working with apps such as YouTube, but you can still switch to the YouTube website for the time being. In this article we explain step by step how you can ‘steal’ texts from videos with Live Text in iOS 16.

Follow the steps below to apply this to your iPhone as well.

  2. Watch the video in full view;
  3. Pause the video at the piece of text you want to select;
  4. Tap and long press on the text;
  5. Select the text you want to copy;
  6. Tap copy;
  7. Paste into an app of your choice.

NB: iOS 16 is not yet available to the general public. The latest iPhone update will be released later this year, but is currently available as a test version. You should therefore public beta of iOS 16 on your iPhone to use Live Text. You can already use the function with photos in iOS 15.
