The release of iOS 18.5 is coming and according to rumors the update brings two hidden features to your iPhone. These are the expectations.

It has been a while since Apple has released an update for the iPhone, because iOS 18.4 appeared on March 31. In the background the company is working on the next software version, it is expected that iOS 18.5 will come to your iPhone soon. The first test versions of the update are already available for developers, but few new features of iOS 18.5 have been found in it.
With iOS 18.5, Apple mainly makes small improvements. In this way AppleCare is explained more clearly in a frame in the Settings app on your iPhone. In addition, it is easier to adjust the layout of the mail app. Furthermore, no new features have yet been added to iOS 18.5, but that does not mean that Apple does not bring any new functions to the iPhone at all. These two changes are expected even more.
New functions
It is expected that Apple will bring a new background to the iPhone with iOS 18.5. Every year the company adds new wallpapers to the Pride collection. These backgrounds appear annually in May, as they were part of iOS 17.5 in 2024. Apple probably reveals the new wallpapers at the beginning of May, when the new dial and the Pride watch tire for the Apple Watch.
In addition, it is expected that Apple Intelligence will come to more countries with iOS 18.5. According to rumors, Apple brings all new features from Apple Intelligence with iOS 18.5 to China for the first time. That is important for the company, because the sale of the iPhones is disappointing in that country. In the Netherlands and Belgium we still have to wait for Apple Intelligence, it is not yet available when the new software is rolled out in Dutch.
Release of iOS 18.5
In the first test versions of iOS 18.5, few new features have been found, but that will probably change soon. The new backgrounds are soon presented, it is not yet known when the Chinese version of Apple Intelligence will be announced. In any case, that can’t take long, because the release of iOS 18.5 is coming. Apple will probably release the update at the beginning of May.
There is a good chance that iOS 18.5 will appear in the second week of May. Apple usually releases updates on a Monday or Tuesday, so the release of iOS 18.5 is possible Monday May 12 or Tuesday May 13, 2025. Then we know for sure which new features will come to iOS 18.5.
