iOS 18 is a huge update
Apple will release iOS 18 this year, which is said to be the biggest update to the iPhone in years. With iOS 18, Apple is catching up in the field of artificial intelligence, so we will see many new AI features in the update. Siri in particular is becoming a lot smarter, but apps such as Apple Music and Messages are also getting useful AI functions. According to new rumors, these are not all the changes in iOS 18.

The usually reliable Apple expert Mark Gurman predicts that almost all Apple apps on the iPhone will be adapted. These are the applications that are installed by default on your phone, such as Maps, Notes, Mail and Photos. According to Gurman, these apps will have a new design and possibly also new (AI) functions. That’s not all, because the iPhone’s home screen is also getting an update in iOS 18.
More freedom on the home screen
A major update like iOS 18 also includes a new interface. The last time Apple changed the design of iOS was in 2013, when iOS 7 was released. That was eleven years ago now, so it is high time for a new design. It is not yet known exactly what the new design will look like, but it is clear that the iPhone’s home screen will receive an update in iOS 18.
As a user, you get much more freedom in organizing the iPhone’s home screen. It is now possible to choose where you place an application, but apps are placed in a grid by default. This will change with iOS 18, because after the update you no longer have to place applications within this grid. Apps no longer have to be right below or next to each other, but can be placed wherever you want.
This is when iOS 18 will be released
With iOS 18, according to previous rumors, you can also decide which icon appears with an app. You can later adjust this symbol yourself, or choose not to display an icon at all. In iOS 18, you as a user have much more freedom in arranging your screen. In addition, the calculator will also receive an update in iOS 18 and Apple will bring the calculator to the iPad for the first time.

Of course, we will only know for sure what other new features are coming to iOS 18 once Apple has announced the software update. This will happen on June 10, when WWDC 2024 starts.
