This year iOS 19 is the most important update for the iPhone. According to rumors, Apple is making enormous changes and iOS 19 becomes the largest iPhone update in years. We see these adjustments mainly in the design, because Apple is working on a new interface for the operating system. In the new design, many Visionos elements are expected, the operating system developed especially for the Apple Vision Pro.
Characteristic parts of Visionos are mainly the transparent frameworks with rounded corners. These frameworks seem of glass and come according to rumors to iOS 19. In addition, the new design of the operating system gets much more depth. It is still unclear whether the round icons of the apps also come to iOS 19. Apple adapted the design of iOS for the last time in 2013, when iOS 7 appeared. As a result, iOS 19 becomes the largest iPhone update in years, but that is not only due to the new design.
Apple better prepares
In 2013, Apple made major changes with the release of iOS 7. Rolling out this update and all new functions did not go smoothly, so Apple needed a lot of time to get the new software stable. This was due to changes in the staff and a renewed team that worked on iOS. This is not the case with iOS 19, because the same team of developers has been working on this software for years. It is therefore expected that iOS 19 does not need as many corrective updates as iOS 7.
With this team, Apple is therefore better prepared for rolling out a large software update, if the design is looked at. That is also necessary, because it is expected that Apple will also adjust the software behind the new design. With iOS 7 that did not happen, Apple then mainly changed the design. The software behind this design was only adjusted when release of the iPhone X. Apple may now change both the software and the interface, which makes iOS 19 a greater update than iOS 7.
Release of iOS 19
There is a chance that Apple renewed the software of the operating system, so that iOS will be prepared for the arrival of the iPhone Fold. With the iPhone X the software was adjusted, so that iOS works on iPhones with a larger screen. The software may now change to have the operating system work on a foldable iPhone. We do not notice much of this change in iOS 19 in the update, because it is about adjustments in the background.
According to rumors, Apple is therefore working on a new interface and new software for iOS 19. Other new functions of iOS 19 are a health coach, adapted layout for the photos app and Apple Intelligence in more languages.
