Another update is coming for your iPhone! It has been a while since Apple released iOS 26.2, that software version was released in December. In the background, the company is working on the release of iOS 26.3, which brings several improvements to your iPhone. Apple has not yet announced the official release date of the update, but often follows the same timeline when releasing new software versions. Similar updates previously appeared on these dates:
- iOS 18.3: Monday January 27, 2025;
- iOS 17.3: Monday January 22, 2024;
- iOS 16.3: Monday January 23, 2023;
- iOS 15.3: Wednesday January 26, 2022.
These software versions were all released in late January, so iOS 26.3 is expected to be released around the same time in 2026. Typically, Apple releases updates on Mondays around 7 p.m. There is therefore a good chance that iOS 26.3 will be on Monday January 26, 2026 at 7:00 PM (Dutch time) is available on your iPhone. That evening, your iPhone will receive new functions and iOS 26 will be improved.
New features
The first test versions are already available to developers, giving us an idea of ​​the new features in iOS 26.3. In the new software version, Apple makes it easier to switch from an iPhone to an Android device. You will soon be able to connect your iPhone to an Android device, so that all photos, messages, notes and applications can be transferred to your next device without any problems.
Do you wear a smartwatch, but it is not an Apple Watch? In that case, you get a useful feature in iOS 26.3, because your iPhone can finally send notifications to third-party smartwatches. This is currently an exclusive setting for the Apple Watch, but after the release of iOS 26.3, smart watches from other brands will also be added. You decide to which accessory your iPhone sends notifications, which can be done to one smartwatch at the same time.

Furthermore, with iOS 26.3 you get more backgrounds for your iPhone. Apple adds three wallpapers in the theme of the Weather app. The background changes color with the weather situation at your current location. That’s not all, as you can see with the widgets on the lock screen with relevant information about the weather. Each wallpaper has its own style and layout, but you can adjust it to your personal preference.
