After the beta of iOS 26 for developers, the public version has now also appeared. This means that everyone can now install the latest version of the iPhone operating system. Your iPhone must support iOS 26. Therefore, first check in advance whether your device can install the update.
First backup …
Also be aware that this is still about a test version, and that this version can still contain the necessary errors. Also take into account a shorter battery life, crashes or apps that work less well.
So first make a backup of your iPhone. You can find that option on your iPhone by opening the ‘settings’. Then you tap your iCloud account and ‘Backup in iCloud’. Then choose ‘Now make backup’.
… then install
If you did that once, you can install the update. You do that as follows:
Install public beta of iOS 26 on your iPhone
- Open the ‘settings’ on your iPhone;
- Go to ‘General’ And tap ‘Software update’;
- Choose ‘iOS 26 Public Beta’ under ‘Beta updates’;
- Tap ‘previous’ (the arrow to the left);
- Install the update.
This is iOS 26: The new functions
One of the most eye -catching innovations in iOS 26 is the so -called Liquid Glass-design. This ‘glass’ appearance gives your iPhone a new look with a modern, transparent look.
You can see the effect in app icons, among other things, some of which have a transparent or glassy background. Widgets and reports have also been renewed and have been given a new appearance. They have become transparent so that the background remains subtly visible, just like you look through it.
In addition, the camera app gets a major update and the control panel will be a bit better again. The photos app has also received an update and there you see another nice function.
When you look at a photo, there is a new button in the top right corner with which you can view a ‘spatial scene’ version of the image. This gives your photo a kind of depth. It is especially nice to use this function for the background of the locking screen.
