Apple is not only announcing the iPhone 16 next month, a new iPad mini is also likely to be released. This is what we already know about the iPad mini 2024!
iPad mini 2024 is coming
Apple has officially announced the iPhone 16 event! On Monday September 9 at 7:00 PM Apple presents a series of new products. We will see the iPhone 16 series and the new Apple Watches of 2024. The AirPods 4 are also expected at the ‘Glowtime‘ event next month. According to the generally reliable Apple expert Mark Gurman, that’s not all, because the iPad mini 2024 is also coming soon.
It’s been a while since the current generation of the iPad mini was released, Apple released the small tablet in 2021. The device still runs on the A15 Bionic chip, which we also saw in the iPhone 13. Since then, the iPad mini has not received any innovations. That is now changing, because Gurman predicts that we may see the iPad mini 2024 as early as next month.
Limited stock iPad mini 6
According to Gurman, the stock of the iPad mini 6 is still limited at many Apple retailers. That is usually a sign that a new generation of a device will appear soon. Apple is therefore no longer replenishing the stock of the current tablet, but will probably start delivering the new iPad mini 7 soon. There is therefore a good chance that Apple will announce the iPad next month at the iPhone 16 event.
The iPad mini 6 was also announced in September, during the iPhone 13 event in 2021. It is therefore quite possible that during this year’s iPhone event we will not only see new iPhones, but also the iPad mini 2024. The next iPad mini will reportedly get a new processor, which will allow the tablet to support all the new features that work with Apple Intelligence.
More new features
Currently, only devices with the A17 Pro or M1 chip and later will receive Apple Intelligence support. The iPad mini 2024 is expected to run on the A17 Pro chip, which is already found in the iPhone 15 Pro (Max). Other changes expected include improved cameras, Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3. The design of the tablet will likely remain unchanged.
So there seems to be a good chance that Apple will present the iPad mini 7 on September 9, but it is also possible that the tablet will not be released until the fall. Later this year, new versions of the MacBook Pro, Mac mini, iMac and the regular iPad will be released. These are many new products, for which Apple may organize an event in October.
