A new generation of the iPad mini has been presented! Apple has announced the iPad Mii 7 via a press release. The tablet has received a major update, especially under the hood, because the device runs on a new processor. This has several advantages, for example the iPad mini now also works with Apple Intelligence. These are all the new features of the iPad mini 7.
1. A17 Pro chip
The iPad mini 7 runs on the A17 Pro chip, which we previously saw in the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max. It is a big step for the small tablet, because the iPad mini 6 still runs on the A15 Bionic chip. The A17 Pro chip is much more powerful and has no trouble running multiple heavy tasks at the same time. Presumably the iPad mini now also has 8 GB of RAM, but Apple has not yet confirmed this.
2. Apple Intelligence
A big advantage of the new A17 Pro chip is that the iPad mini now has support for Apple Intelligence. The iPad mini 7 will be expanded with many more functions in a later version of iPadOS 18. Almost all apps get new features with Apple Intelligence. That is a big advantage, especially if you use the iPad mini to take notes or to keep track of your email. 3. Improved camera
The iPad mini 7 again has a 12-megapixel camera, just like the iPad mini 6. It is almost the same camera, but with the seventh generation of the iPad mini you can take sharper photos. The tablet has support for Smart HDR 4, which allows more details to be captured by the camera. This is especially noticeable when taking photos and scanning documents. The latter is easier with the iPad mini 7, because the tablet uses AI to remove shadows from documents.
4. More storage space
While the iPad mini 6 comes with 64 GB as standard, the iPad mini 7 provides twice as much. The tablet comes standard with 128 GB of storage space. You can also choose from 256 GB and 512 GB. It is the first time that you can choose between 128 GB and 512 GB, the iPad mini 6 was only available with 64 GB or 256 GB. 5. Apple Pencil Pro
At the beginning of this year, Apple presented the Pencil Pro. The stylus has a new way of operating, because you can press the Pencil to open a palette on the tablet. In addition, the Apple Pencil Pro has haptic feedback, which causes the stylus to vibrate briefly when you press it. The Apple Pencil Pro already worked with the iPad Pro and iPad Air 2024, but can now also be used with the iPad mini 7.
6. New colors
Apple has released a new series of colors with the iPad mini 7. The colors are not really new, as we have previously seen them with the iPad Air 2024. The iPad mini 2024 is available in the colors space gray, purple, blue and starlight. We saw similar colors on the iPad mini 6, but the pink variant has been replaced by the blue version.
7. More changes
Furthermore, Apple has mainly implemented small changes to the tablet. The iPad mini 7 has features such as WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3, while the iPad mini 6 had WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3. With the iPad mini 7 we also see much of the same, the tablet has the same screen and design as the sixth generation of the iPad mini. The battery life, front camera and Touch ID are also unchanged.
