The next iPad is reportedly getting a new design, which makes the tablet look different than we are used to. This is going to change.
New design for the iPad
It’s been a while since the previous iPad Pro appeared. The fifth generation iPad Pro was launched in October 2022 and runs on the extremely fast M2 chip. This was also the biggest innovation, in all other areas the iPad Pro 2022 resembles the fourth generation iPad Pro. The design of the iPad has also remained exactly the same.

That is said to change with the new iPad Pro, because Apple is working on a new design for the tablet. This updated design probably resembles the iPhone 15 Pro (Max). Apple will present these phones next month, so we already have a good idea of the changed design. This is what the new iPhones and iPad Pro will look like.
Thinner bezels for the iPhone and iPad
The iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max will have much thinner screen edges this year than we have seen with the iPhone so far. The current iPhones have a border of 2.2 millimeters, while this is reduced to 1.5 millimeters with the new iPhones. This makes the screen slightly larger, without the iPhone’s housing having to be modified.
Apple is now planning to give the iPad Pro a similar design. The new iPad will therefore have much thinner screen edges. With the iPad, the screen also becomes a bit larger, while the housing remains the same size. It is not yet known how thin the new screen edges will be.
This new design fits within Apple’s plan to make the iPhone and iPad completely bezel-free. The front of the devices then only consists of the screen. The iPhone 17 may be Apple’s first phone with no bezels. So wait a little longer, because the phone will not appear until 2025. The release of the new iPad without bezels will probably take even longer.
New screen for iPad Pro
Not only the screen edges change with the iPad Pro, the tablet also gets a completely new screen. The new tablet may be equipped with an OLED screen. Apple will then bring the OLED screen to both the small and large versions of the iPad Pro. That means a considerable upgrade, especially for the model with the 11-inch screen.
