Apple skips iPadOS 16.0 and will release iPadOS 16.1 at the end of October. At least, that’s what Mark Gurman reports. He also talks about new Apple products.
‘Apple will launch iPadOS 16.1 at the end of October’
We heard two months ago that Apple had delayed the release of iPadOS 16 until October. We also know that new iPads and new Macs are coming. Apple analyst Mark Gurman, of Bloomberg, reports now that Apple skips the first version and immediately comes up with iPadOS 16.1.
iPadOS 16.1 and new products on the way
According to Gurman, the intention is that iPadOS 16.1 will appear on your iPad in the week of October 24. Then you can get started with new functions such as Stage Manager. In the beta versions, we found that this feature did not deliver on its promise. When iPadOS 16.1 comes out at the end of October, all major bugs or issues should be fixed.
Gurman tells us in the same tweet that the update could indicate the new Apple products coming soon. This will not happen via a keynote but with a series of press releases on the Apple website.
What products will Apple launch in October?
Apple is rumored to be launching at least two new iPad models this month. The ‘normal’ iPad gets a new design, the A14 Bionic chip and a USB-c connection. At the same time, Apple plans to upgrade the iPad Pro 2022 with the faster M2 chip. If we are to believe all the rumors, we will also see a new Mac mini and we will get several versions of a MacBook Pro with M2 chip.
