Apple will again hold the title of best-selling smartphone in 2024. It is striking that the iPhone 15 Pro Max is doing very well this year.
iPhone 15 Pro Max is the best-selling smartphone of 2024 (so far)
In the list of best-selling smartphones of 2024 (so far) the iPhone is in the first, second, third and fourth places of the top 5. Only the iPhone 15 Plus has to beat a number of Samsung smartphones.
In first place is the iPhone 15 Pro Max. This is quite striking, because never before has a Pro iPhone taken a top position so early in the year. In second place you will find the iPhone 15 and the iPhone 15 Pro takes third place. In fourth place there is no iPhone from the 15 series, but an iPhone 14.
Below that we see the first non-Apple smartphone in the list, this is Samsung’s flagship: the Galaxy S 24 Ultra. Followed by the Galaxy A15 5G and Galaxy A54. Only then in eighth place do we see the last iPhone from the 15 series: the iPhone 15 Plus.
When we compare the top 5 best-selling smartphones of 2024 with last year, we see that not much is different. Except a Pro model now takes first place. So it seems that the Pro models are starting to become more popular.
The website Counterpoint says that about 50 percent of the iPhones Apple sells are a Pro model (in Q1 of 2024). In Q1 of 2020, this was only 24 percent. According to the website, this is because iPhone owners are now waiting longer before upgrading. And if they do, immediately go for the top model.
