iPhone 15 Pro has been announced
Apple has officially announced the iPhone 15 Pro, so we finally know what new features are coming to the phone. The iPhone 15 Pro has received a significant upgrade, which means that the differences between the iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro are significant in a number of areas. Differences between iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro
1. New titanium housing
One of the biggest differences between the iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro is the housing of the devices. The iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max have a titanium housing for the first time. This means the phones are much better protected, because titanium is an extremely strong material. Due to the titanium casing, Apple has also introduced a range of new colors to the iPhone 15 Pro.
Apple opted for a stainless steel housing for the iPhone 14 Pro, but this is being replaced by titanium for the iPhone 15 Pro. This reduces the risk of damage, but also makes the device much lighter. Titanium is less heavy than stainless steel. The iPhone 15 Pro therefore weighs 187 grams, while the iPhone 14 Pro weighs 206 grams.
2. Action button introduced with the iPhone 15
Apple is bringing a completely new action button to the iPhone 15 Pro (Max), which is one of the differences with the iPhone 14 Pro. With the iPhone 14 Pro we saw the mutebutton, the switch that we have found for years above the volume buttons of the iPhone. Apple is finally saying goodbye to this switch with the iPhone 15 Pro.
The iPhone 15 Pro is not the first device with an action button, we previously saw a similar button on the Apple Watch Ultra. The button is now coming to the iPhone for the first time, so you can decide for yourself which action is performed when you press the action button. 3. iPhone 15 Pro has an improved camera
Apple equipped the iPhones with a 48-megapixel camera for the first time last year. The iPhone 15 Pro adopts this camera this year, so the cameras of both devices do not differ much from each other. The camera of the iPhone 15 Pro has received a small update: the night mode is a lot better. The new iPhone captures more light and takes more detailed photos in low light in this mode.
Another cool feature: thanks to the LiDAR scanner, you can also take portrait photos in Night mode. With the iPhone 15 Pro you can always shoot photos in 48 MP ProRAW, but you now also get the HEIF option. With the iPhone 15 Pro you can still zoom in 3x, but we see no differences with the iPhone 14 Pro. The iPhone 15 Pro Max, on the other hand, has received a greatly improved camera.
4. U2 chip ensures accurate location determination
Since the iPhone 11, Apple has equipped every iPhone with the U1 chip. This has changed with the iPhone 15 Pro, because Apple has launched the new U2 chip. This processor is related to functions related to location determination, such as Find My, Handoff and AirDrop. For example, you can see exactly where Find My objects are located in your area.
This location determination is much better with the U2 chip. This brings greater accuracy to the processor for Find My. The chip also ensures that devices in Apple’s ecosystem can work well with each other and connect easily. This happens slightly more smoothly with the iPhone 15 Pro than with the iPhone 14 Pro.
5. iPhone 15 Pro has USB-C
As expected, the iPhone 15 Pro has a USB-C connection. This is the result of European legislation, which states that all electronic devices must have a USB-C port by 2024. This makes the iPhone 15 Pro the first iPhone with USB-C, while this was still Lightning for the iPhone 14 Pro. . Unfortunately, we do not see this difference in the charging times, because the iPhone 15 Pro does not charge faster than the iPhone 14 Pro.
Transferring data can be done slightly faster with the iPhone 15 Pro, provided you use the correct USB-C cable. This allows you to transfer images and videos from your iPhone to your laptop or Mac more quickly. The iPhone 15 Pro differs from the iPhone 14 Pro in this way, because this was not yet possible with the Lightning cable. Do you often transfer files to your Mac(Book)? Then the iPhone 15 Pro is a huge improvement.
6. More screen due to thinner edges
Like every year, Apple has made the screen edges of the new iPhone slightly thinner. This makes the design of the iPhone 15 Pro look a little sleeker and you have a little more screen. The thinner screen edges do not provide a truly larger screen, because the screen dimensions do not differ between the iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro. Both devices have a 6.1-inch display.
7. A17 Pro: new manufacturing process
Under the motor head, the iPhone 15 Pro has the A17 Pro chip, which has a number of differences from the A16 Bionic chip. That is the processor that we see in the iPhone 14 Pro. Apple is using a new 3nm technology for the first time with the A17 Pro chip. The processor is therefore smaller, so it requires less energy to perform more demanding tasks.
The new chip is a lot more energy efficient and faster, but unfortunately we do not see this reflected in the battery life of the iPhone 15 Pro. This is the same as with the iPhone 14 Pro. The devices last up to 23 hours if you play videos and up to 75 hours if you only listen to audio. The iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro do not differ in this regard.
8. Price: iPhone 15 Pro cheaper
After implementing price increases on the iPhone for two years in a row, Apple has made a striking choice this year. The iPhone 15 Pro is cheaper than the iPhone 14 Pro! Apple launched the iPhone 14 Pro last year for a purchase price of 1,329 euros, while the iPhone 15 Pro is ‘only’ 1,229 euros.
Still a lot of money, of course, but less than expected before the release of the iPhone 15 Pro. Due to the announcement of the iPhone 15 Pro, the price of the iPhone 14 Pro has now dropped considerably, you can now buy the phone for € 1,048. The iPhone 15 Pro will also probably soon be offered for slightly less money from online providers, where you now pay € 1,229 for the device.
This is when the new iPhones will appear
The iPhone 15 Pro therefore has a number of differences compared to the iPhone 14 Pro. The big advantage of the iPhone 14 Pro at the moment is that the phone has become a lot cheaper, but lacks several functions that the iPhone 15 Pro has. Also good to know: the iPhone 15 (Plus) has adopted many features from the iPhone 14 Pro this year, but costs a lot less (€ 969).
Are you still considering buying the iPhone 14 Pro? Then it is better to opt for the normal iPhone 15, because then you will receive software updates for another year and you will have most of the functions of the iPhone 14 Pro for a lower price.
