iPhone 16 (Pro) camera control: these are the functions of the new button

Apple has introduced a new button again with the iPhone 16 (Pro), because the iPhones have a camera controller. You can do this with the switch!

Camera control on the iPhone 16

The iPhone 16 has officially been announced! Apple introduced a camera control this year, which will come to all iPhone 16 models. The new button will come to the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. You will find the control on the right side of the new iPhones, below the lock button. It is not a physical button, but a button that works with Haptic Touch.

That means you can’t actually press the camera controller; instead, the iPhone 16 uses vibration motors to respond when you touch the button. This allows the controller to be operated in different ways. That’s handy, because you get access to multiple camera functions with the new button. Curious what they are? We’ll explain what you can use the camera controller for.

Camera Controller Functions

The new camera slider gives you faster access to various camera functions. For example, you can open the Camera app with a single press of a button. If you click again, you can immediately take a photo with your iPhone 16. If you switch to video mode, a recording will start as soon as you press the camera slider. With the iPhone 16, you no longer have to tap the screen to take photos or videos.

That’s far from all the features you can activate with the iPhone 16’s camera controller. Double-tap the new button to access other camera settings. For example, you can adjust the depth or focus using the camera button. Press the camera button once to open controls that let you zoom in or out, for example. The new button puts all the camera features within easy reach.

More features of the iPhone 16

Other settings you can adjust via the iPhone 16’s camera slider include exposure and switching between lenses. This isn’t the only new button on the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, as the devices also have the action button. We’ve seen this button on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, but it’s available on all new iPhones this year.

In addition to the camera controller, Apple has made a number of other changes to the iPhone 16. The regular iPhones have a modified camera island and run on the new A18 chip. The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max feature the powerful A18 Pro chip and the improved 48-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens. Do you want to be the first to have the new iPhone in your home?
