During the ‘It’s Glowtime’ event, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max were announced by Apple. But what is new in both smartphones? And what functions have been added? Read all about the new iPhone 16 Pro (Max) here!

iPhone 16 Pro (Max): Bigger than ever

The first thing you’ll notice about the new iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max is that they’re a fair bit bigger, making the iPhone 16 Pro Max the largest iPhone ever.

The iPhone 16 Pro Max is now 6.9 inches (the iPhone 15 Pro Max was 6.7 inches). The iPhone 16 Pro has also become a bit bigger, going to 6.3 inches (it was 6.1 inches).

Cool titanium shades

The iPhone 16 Pro (Max) comes in a few different colors. The new desert titanium color replaces the blue titanium color of the iPhone 15 Pro series. The other colors are white titanium, black titanium, and gray titanium.

New 18 Pro chip: even faster and more economical

The iPhone 16 Pro runs on the A18 Pro chip. Apple introduced a Pro chip for the first time with the iPhone 15 Pro, and Apple is continuing that trend with this year’s new top devices. The new chip makes the device a bit faster than the iPhone 15 Pro. It is 15-20 percent faster than the A17 Pro, and in games it is twice as fast in ray tracing. It also consumes a lot less power (according to Apple, about 20 percent).

iPhone 16 Pro (Max) camera

The camera was already pretty good on the iPhone 16 Pro (Max). But the lens could still use an update. The ultra-wide lens has always had a 12-megapixel camera until now, but on the iPhone 16 Pro (Max) it now becomes a 48-megapixel camera.

In addition, you could already make Spatial Videos with your iPhone 15 Pro (Max), but now it is also possible to make Spatial Photos. You can then view these videos in 3D in the Apple Vision Pro (or other VR glasses).

The new smartphone will have both the main camera and the ultra-wide angle lens with 48 MP. This will make it the iPhone with the best camera ever!

There are also new features in the video area. For example, the iPhone 16 Pro (Max) has a new 4K resolution (120). This allows you to make beautiful 4K videos that you can also play in slow motion (at 24 fps, 30 fps, 60 fps).

You can also record audio in videos with Spatial Audio. You can then play the video with spatial audio on your AirPods, for example. You can also record videos where the background noise is filtered out, just like in a studio.

Camera control: new button (to touch)

Apple introduced a new action button with the iPhone 15 Pro (Max), but the iPhone 16 Pro adds another button. This is the ‘Camera Control’. You use this button to take photos and videos faster. It is a touch-sensitive button, so it knows whether you press the button gently, press it hard or swipe over it.

Also nice is that you can request information with the button (Apple calls it Visual Intelligence). You point your camera at a dog, restaurant or whatever and with a tap of the button your iPhone gives more information about the subject.

iOS 18: Apple’s Latest Operating System

The release of the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max also brings the latest version of the operating system. iOS 18 contains quite a few innovations. Thanks to the introduction of Apple Intelligence In fact, it may be the biggest iPhone update ever. Many of the apps are being expanded with new features.

Some of the new features you will get with iOS 18 are:

iPhone 16 Pro (Max) prices

The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are back in the same price range as the iPhone 15 Pro. The iPhone 16 Pro starts at $999, with 128GB of storage. The iPhone 16 Pro Max starts at $1,479 with 256GB of storage. It’s available to order starting Friday, September 13, and will ship on September 20.
