The iPhone 16 Pro (Max) will be released in September, with an ultra-wide-angle camera that is much better than that of the 15 Pro (Max).

The entire iPhone 16 Pro range gets new features, such as a larger display, a dedicated Capture button and more. We also expect several improvements to the camera of the iPhone 16 Pro (Max). For example, the ultra-wide-angle camera of the iPhone 16 Pro (Max) is much better than that of its predecessor.

According to multiple reports, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will both get an improved 48 MP ultra-wide-angle camera this year. This is a significant improvement over the current 12 MP Ultra Wide camera in the iPhone 15 Pro. The change means the iPhone 16 Pro’s ultra-wide-angle camera is much better in most shooting situations, but especially in low ambient light. Photos will also contain more detail and better colors, while the higher resolution also offers more flexibility when editing the photos.

The 48 MP ultra-wide-angle camera of the iPhone 16 Pro is also likely to provide significant improvements to spatial video recording. This feature relies on a combination of the main lens and the ultra-wide angle lens. With a new 48 MP ultra-wide angle, it is possible that the iPhone 16 Pro can record spatial video in 4K resolution. Currently, the iPhone 15 Pro can only record spatial video at a resolution of 1080p.

Even more improvements

In addition to a better ultra-wide-angle camera, the camera of the iPhone 16 Pro (Max) gets even more new functions. For example, there is a new main camera sensor that collects twice as much light compared to existing camera sensors. The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will also both have 5x optical zoom and 25x digital zoom (something that only the iPhone 15 Pro Max currently has). Finally, the camera’s lenses receive an anti-reflective coating called ‘atomic layer deposition’ (ALD). This coating minimizes internal reflections, resulting in fewer artifacts.
