We don’t have to wait long for the next iPhone, because Apple will soon be releasing the iPhone 16th. The phone is the successor to the iPhone SE 2022, but Apple probably opts for a new naming this year. This is probably the result of a number of major improvements in the cheapest iPhone. We put the three most important functions of the iPhone 16th among each other!
1. Renewed design
With the current iPhone SE we see an outdated design with a home button, but the iPhone 16th change. The phone takes over the design of the iPhone 14, with a 6.1-inch OLED screen and Face ID. That is a big improvement, because the iPhone SE 2022 still works with Touch ID. With functions such as Face ID and the OLED screen, the iPhone 16th does not differ much from the regular iPhones.
Yet we see an important difference at the top of the display. Where the iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 series has the Dynamic Island, the iPhone 16th is said to get a notch (notch). The Dynamic Island therefore remains a function that is exclusively for the regular iPhone, the iPhone 16th has to do without the feature. With the notch, the iPhone 16th is most like the iPhone 14.
2. Improved camera
The camera of the iPhone 16th gets more functions than we see in the current generation of the iPhone SE. The iPhone SE 2022 has a 12-megapixel camera, with the iPhone 16th it will be a 48-megapixel camera. That means that the image quality of the photos and videos is much higher. The regular iPhones have already had a main camera with 48 megapixels since the iPhone 15, which is now also coming to the iPhone 16th.
We still see the big difference between the regular iPhones and the iPhone 16th at the camera. The iPhone 16th does get an improved camera, but is said to have one lens. With the iPhone 16 (Plus) they are two lenses, the iPhone 16 Pro (Max) even has three cameras. As a result, you mainly miss functions when you zoom in with the iPhone 16th, the device can only zoom in up to 2x without loss of quality.
3. New processor
According to rumors, the iPhone is 16th on the new A18 chip. That is the same processor as we now see at the iPhone 16 and the iPhone 16 Plus. The new A18 chip is very important, because that gives the iPhone 16th support for all functions of Apple Intelligence. This technique is not yet available in the European Union, but will come to your iPhone with a software update later in 2025 or 2026.
In addition to the A18 chip, the iPhone 16th will probably get 8 GB of memory, just like the iPhone 16 series. This way the iPhone 16th can effortlessly run the functions of Apple Intelligence. The support for Apple Intelligence is a big advantage, because the iPhone 16th thus becomes the cheapest way to gain access to all AI functions. Recent devices such as the iPhone 15 lack the support for Apple Intelligence.
Release of the iPhone 16th
Other new functions that are expected at the iPhone 16th are a new Apple modem for internet connection, a USB-C port and possibly the action button. It is expected that Apple will announce the iPhone 16th soon, that will probably happen this week. The company does not organize a special event for that, instead the iPhone 16th will be unveiled via a press release. That message may appear on 11 or 18 February.
The release usually follows a week after the announcement, so that means that iPhone 16th will soon be available in stores.
