A thin iPhone 17 Air is nice, but it also has disadvantages. According to rumors, the device will lack functions that you actually want.
iPhone 17 Air will be thin (but missing a few key features)
According to rumors, the iPhone 17 Air will be very thin! The new iPhone will only be 5.5 millimeters, which is quite a bit thinner than the iPhone 16. It is still 7.8 millimeters ‘thick’.
But the iPhone 17 Air will not yet be as thin as the brand new iPad Pro. It is a lot slimmer, namely 5.1 millimeters. This makes the iPad Pro 2024 (€ 1,084.50) the thinnest Apple device to date.

Features that are missing
Apple appears to be cutting back on a few features with the iPhone 17 Air. This way, instead of two cameras (or three for the Pro devices), you only have a single lens. Although this will be a decent 48-megapixel camera, you will miss the extra options that a second lens gives you.
Under the hood, the iPhone 17 Air comes with the standard version of the A19 chip. The Pro variant of the chip also seems to only be coming to the new Pro iPhones. Furthermore, the slot for the physical SIM card will also disappear. You can only use an eSim in the iPhone 17 Air.

Replacement for the Plus model
The iPhone 17 Air replaces the Plus model. This means that the iPhone 16 Plus is the last version of this device. But according to rumors, the iPhone 17 Air will have almost the same specifications as the Plus device. The display will be about 6.6 inches and the price will probably also be between the two devices.
iPhone 17 Air release
The iPhone 17 Air will probably be presented together with the iPhone 17, the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max. This will happen sometime in September. This is usually the second Tuesday in September. That will be on September 9 this year.
