iPhone 17 Pro lacks a camera function (but that’s good news)

It seems that a camera function of the 16 Pro is omitted on the iPhone 17 Pro, but that is not a step back. You need to know this.

iPhone 17 Pro is missing a camera function

Apple has big plans for the iPhone 17 series. There are rumors about an iPhone 17 Air and also the Pro models, as it looks now, get significant hardware upgrades, especially in the field of cameras. But it also seems that Apple omits a camera function on the iPhone 17 Pro. Majin Bu Unveils a number of interesting details about this.

The iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max have a 12MP counts with a 5x optical zoom. According to Magin BU, the 17 Pro models do not get this camera function, but instead a new telephoto lens with a 3.5x optical zoom. That is therefore less than the current telephoto lens. But according to BU, the higher resolution Apple enables more than 5x zoom to offer using a digital crop.

The idea is essentially the same as with the main camera of the most recent iPhone. Although the iPhone 16th has a 48-megapixel sensor, Apple also offers a 2x digital zoom that snaps the full image into a 12-megapixel photo. This results in an excellent zoomed photo without loss of quality. This is the reason that Apple says that the iPhone 16th has two cameras in one.

7x Digital Zoom

Majin Bu also explains why the change in camera function in the iPhone 17 Pro is positive. The current 5x lens requires that you are further away from the subject to take portrait photos. With a 3.5x lens it is therefore easier to take portrait photos, while the iPhone still takes photos with a up to 7x digital zoom. Whether BU is right about the new telephoto lens continues to wait.

According to other sources, all iPhone 17 models also receive a new 24-megapixel selfie camera and the Pro models have 8k video for the first time. Apple is expected to announce the new iPhone Pro again in September.
