iPhone 17 Pro (Max) is there: a new look and the best camera ever
Apple has officially announced the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max during the ‘AWE dropping’ event. The new devices are the successors of the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max and have received a few cool improvements!

New design …
The first thing that stands out is the new design of the iPhone 17 Pro (Max). A large camera island can now be found on the back of the smartphone. It has been a while since Apple has made such a big change in the appearance of the iPhone.
Apple also says goodbye to the titanium housing that we saw at the iPhone 16 Pro (Max) and opts for an aluminum finish instead. The back and the front are also better protected against scratches. In addition, the screen is less sensitive to reflections.
… and better cooling
The iPhone has a new cooling system and (if all goes well) becomes a lot less hot. It is not a new technique, but a kind of ‘vapor chamber’. This is a cooling method that is used to remove heat quickly and efficiently. You can often find this technique in (gaming) laptops and graphic cards.
Three new colors
The iPhone 17 Pro (Max) also becomes available in different colors. These are silver, blue and orange. Especially the orange color is a striking choice. We have only seen that color in a slightly different shade with the iPhone XR and the iPhone 5C.
New chip …
The iPhone 17 Pro (Max) has now received an A19 Pro chip. This chip now has around 40 percent better performance than the iPhone 16 Pro Max.
… and an improved battery
The battery has also improved at Pro Max. You can now play for 39 hours of video. That is about two hours more than the previous Pro model.
New camera
The camera system of the iPhone 17 Pro (Max) has also improved. The phone has no fewer than three 48-megapixel cameras. The telephoto lens will be a 48-megapixel camera for the first time. And at the front, the smartphone has an 18-megapixel camera (with Center Stage). You can now also zoom in up to 8 times.
There are also improvements for video. For example, the iPhone 17 Pro now has support for Prores Raw and more. Another funny fact: the iPhone event was filmed with an iPhone 17 Pro.
iOS 26: Apple’s latest version of the operating system
In 2024, Apple released iOS 18, in 2023 iOS 17 and in 2022 iOS 16. This year, however, the company differs from the familiar numbering of the iPhone control system. Instead of iOS 19, Apple introduced iOS 26. The same new numbering also applies to Watchos, MacOS, TVOS and Visionos.
The reason behind this surprising name change is simple: overview and clarity. By giving all operating systems the same number based on the year in which they are active, Apple hopes to prevent confusion. Until now, the version numbers of macOS, Watchos and iOS ran quite apart, making it difficult to see which versions belong together.
The new naming is not the only major change in the software this year. Apple is working on a renewed and uniform design for all operating systems. This new design is based on Visionos, the operating system for the Apple Vision Pro. We therefore see many more transparent frameworks, glass elements and Apple calls it Liquid Glass. Differences between the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max
There are not much differences between the Pro and the Pro Max in the field of hardware. The iPhone 17 Pro Max has a 6.9 inch screen and the iPhone 17 Pro a 6.3 inch screen. In addition, the iPhone 17 Pro Max has a larger battery.

The pre-order of the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max starts up Friday, September 12 at 2:00 PM. Make sure you are on time, because the question is usually huge. You will then receive the new iPhone on Friday 19 September. That is also the moment that the new iPhones are in stores.
