According to usually reliable Apple connoisseur Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple is going to slide the release of the iPhone 18 back. Normally the new iPhone is always presented by Apple in September, but the company now seems to get off.
In fact: Apple is planning to split the release of the iPhone 18 models. The iPhone 18 Pro, the iPhone 18 Pro Max and a foldable iPhone are planned for the third quarter of 2026. The standard iPhone 18 and the iPhone 18th will come later than expected and will come the first half of 2027. The releases of the coming years will look like this.
- Third quarter 2025: iPhone 17 Pro Max, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Air and iPhone 17;
- First quarter of 2026: iPhone 17th;
- Third quarter 2026: iPhone Fold, iPhone 18 Pro Max, iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Air;
- First quarter 2027: iPhone 18, iPhone 18th;
- Third quarter 2027: iPhone Fold 2, iPhone 19 Pro Max, iPhone 19 Pro, iPhone 19 Air.
Kuo think that Apple does this because competitors always present their ‘flagship’ devices in the first half of the year. Another reason may be that Apple wants to spread their releases a little more for marketing purposes.
By spreading the releases, Apple can also spread the required resources more easily. The fact that the iPhone 18 comes later than expected would also be the first time that Apple will deliberately change their releases. Ever since the iPhone 4S (in 2011), Apple has always released the new iPhones in the third quarter.
