According to rumors, Apple will tackle the camera control with the iPhone 18. Apple will then remove the touch sensitivity from the camera button. The button will then no longer respond when you swipe your finger over it. You can still press it.
Apple seems to have been aware of the irritations with the camera controller for some time. In iOS 18.2, an option was added that allows you to set the camera button to only work when the screen is on. But with the iPhone 18, the adjustment goes a little further by changing the hardware of the camera controller.
