1. Add Shazam to the Control Center
We’ll start these iPhone tips with a way to figure out a song faster. You don’t always hear songs from the beginning, so you’ll often have to move quickly to make sure Shazam still has enough time to do his thing.
Fortunately, there’s a faster way than finding Shazam, opening it, and then launching it. You can add Shazam to the Control Center. This limits everything to two gestures: you open the Control Panel by swiping down from the top right and you start Shazam by tapping the icon. This is how you set it:
- Open the Settings app;
- Tap ‘Control Center’;
- Search for ‘Music recognition’;
- Tap the plus sign in front of it.
2. Automatic playlist of all songs that pass by
Number 2 of these iPhone tips is useful when you want to make a playlist of all the music that is played at a party, for example. This can be done completely automatically with Shazam! You do this with the ‘Auto Shazam’ function.
You can only enable Auto Shazam by opening the app, not via the Control Panel as in tip 1. If you have opened Shazam, do not tap the large button, but hold it down for a moment (switching it off again with a single tap) . As long as Auto Shazam is on, all recognized songs are stored chronologically so you can find them all.
3. Connect Shazam with Spotify
The third of these iPhone tips is about listening to your Shazamed songs. This happens by default in Apple Music. If you don’t use Apple Music, you have the option to link Shazam with Spotify. It goes like this:
- Open Shazam;
- Swipe from bottom to top;
- Tap the gear icon at the top left;
- Tap Spotify and choose connect;
- Enable the ‘Sync Shazams to Spotify’ option.
4. Automatic backups of recognized songs to iCloud
Number 4 of these iPhone tips is useful if you use multiple Apple devices. You’ll probably want access to the songs you identified through Shazam everywhere. By enabling the ‘iCloud Sync’ option, this is no problem! You do it as follows:
- Open the Settings app;
- Tap your own photo and then tap ‘iCloud’;
- Under ‘APPS USING ICLOUD’, tap ‘Show all’;
- Scroll down a bit and turn on ‘Shazam’.
5. Add Shazam to your Apple Watch face
With number 5 of these iPhone tips we introduce an even faster way to use Shazam than in tip 1. This way is reserved for people with an Apple Watch.
You can also open Shazam on an Apple Watch, but that is not necessarily faster than on your iPhone. What is much faster is adding Shazam as a complication to a watch face. Then all you have to do is tap a spot on the watch face once and that’s it! This is how you set it:
- Long press your watch face and tap Edit;
- Swipe left until you see ‘Complications’;
- Choose a complication and tap it;
- Tap ‘Shazam’ in the list and confirm by tapping again.
Please note: not every dial has complications!
6. Most Shazamed Songs and Concerts
In Shazam you can not only view what you have Shazam yourself, but also what the most Shazam songs are in your country or in the world. This is not possible in the app, but on the website. For that go to www.shazam.com and tap ‘Parades’.
The new addition we mention above is the ‘Concerts’ feature. You can find this in the app. Swipe up from the bottom again and then tap ‘Concerts’. You will then see all upcoming concerts in your area by artists you have previously Shazam. So there may be something interesting there that you had no idea about. Use it to your advantage!
