On to Essen
Every year around this time we are delighted with the campaign vehicle of the German ‘Tune it! Safe!’ campaign. As always, the show car in Essen is dressed up as a German police car, only this time it is a Volkswagen ID.Buzz.
BMWs, a Corvetteā¦ there were already some everything over in this series. That’s not surprising, because the ‘Tune it!’ campaign has been running since 2005. Safe’ from the Verband der Automobil Tuner eV (VDAT) is a permanent fixture at the tuning fair in Essen, Germany. The campaign, which aims to ensure that car modifications are carried out safely and with approved parts, is kicked off annually there. This year this will happen with an electric car, in the form of Volkswagen’s ID.Buzz.
The retro theme of the Buzz is hardly taken into account in this case, but the police jacket suits him well. Of course, it does not stop at the typical color scheme and stickers of the German Autobahn police, but tuner Irmscher also takes the bus by storm in other areas. Irmscher, which traditionally dealt mainly with Opels, provides the ‘van’ with a lowering of about 3 centimeters, side skirts and under spoilers, a roof spoiler and special 20-inch wheels. It is striking that the tuner has taken a relatively simple Buzz as a basis, a choice to which the ‘simple’ headlights and taillights still testify.
Anyone who would like to marvel at this Buzz and much more creatively designed cars can go to Essen from December 2 (tomorrow) to December 10 for the ever-entertaining Essen Motor Show. Feel free to do so: Essen is not far!
