iRobot has announced a robotic vacuum and mop in one that empties the dust itself and collects water for mopping from the base station. The Roomba J7+ has a retractable mopping pad, so it can vacuum without getting the carpet wet.

iRobot comes with a new 2-in-1 vacuum cleaner that can vacuum and mop. The Roomba J7+ comes with its own base station in which it can empty its own dust and dirt, but it is also the place where it collects water via a pump to be able to mop. After cleaning, the robot can also automatically empty and rinse its water tank.
Vacuuming and mopping can be done in one cleaning, because the Roomba J7+ retracts its mop automatically so that it does not leave the carpet soaked, for example. Two fully retractable metal arms raise the mopping pad when the robot detects carpets and rugs, preventing unwanted wet spots.
