Is this the new compact and electric Alfa Romeo?

Alfa Romeo will expand its delivery range downwards next year with a compact crossover. It is that new ‘baby Alpha’ of which the first images may have already appeared on the internet.

Alfa Romeo recently introduced the 33 Stradale, an exotic coupe that takes its place within the Alfa hierarchy. Alfa Romeo also has news at the bottom of its model range. The brand will launch a new compact crossover in 2024. A little brother of the Tonale. While the Tonale is still mainly an FCA product on a technical level, the new smaller Alfa will be a model that benefits from Stellantis’ more modern and, especially in terms of electrical expertise, platforms. We now have images of what is probably the new small, but still unnamed new Alfa Romeo.

Including Korean media have managed to get their hands on pictures on which we may see a new small crossover from Alfa Romeo. The new small Alfa – with which the brand will reenter the B-segment since the disappearance of the Mito – naturally has a so-called Scudetto in his snout. The triangular grille, which has been characteristic of Alfa for many years, is flanked by lighting divided over two layers. The LED daytime running lights in the top floor are divided into three segments. With a healthy dose of imagination, this reminds viewers of the Alfa Romeo SZ. Viewed from the side, the small Alfa is typically a compact crossover, but one with a rear door handle hidden in the C-pillar. The model visible in these photos is mounted on an evolution of the well-known ‘turntable’ wheels of the Italians and appears to have a relatively high buttocks with an integrated rear spoiler. We also see something of the interior. For example, there will be two tubes behind the steering wheel in which the – undoubtedly digital – clocks are housed.

We will probably find Stellantis’ (e-)CMP platform under the as yet unnamed compact Alfa Romeo. You will also find this basis in cars such as the Peugeot (e-) 208 and (e-) 2008, Jeep Avenger and Opel Corsa. Just like those models, the Alfa Romeo derivative is also available with one or more electric powertrains. Count on the arrival of at least a 156 hp variant that squeezes about 400 kilometers from its 51 kWh battery.
