During the IAA Transportation commercial vehicle exhibition in Hanover, Iveco presented a commercial vehicle that can be fueled by a Hyundai hydrogen fuel cell. The result of the interesting collaboration between Iveco and Hyundai has eDaily Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle, but is not yet production ready.
In the middle of this year, it was announced that Hyundai and Iveco would enter into a partnership in the field of hydrogen buses. That partnership mainly related to city buses that lust for hydrogen. Now Iveco comes with a version of the Daily that is equipped with a fuel cell from Hyundai.
The Iveco eDaily Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV) has a 90 kW fuel cell and a 190 hp electric motor. The electrically powered commercial vehicle has six hydrogen tanks with a combined capacity of 12 kilos. According to Hyundai and Iveco, the eDaily FCEV is up to 350 kilometers away. The maximum payload for the two companies is therefore 3,000 kilos.
Will the Iveco eDaily FCEV go straight into series production? No, it’s not that far yet. Iveco and Hyundai will first come up with a small series that will be tested with a select group of customers. The first copies should hit the road by the end of the year.
