Today, new car brands are emerging mainly in countries such as China and in tech valhallas such as the American Silicon Valley. Izera stands out in that area. The brand new brand is originally from Poland and focuses entirely on electric cars.
The brand new Polish brand Izera is part of Electromobility Poland. The company indicates that the car world is changing and is transforming into a market in which electric transport will play an increasingly important role. In this respect, Poland cannot be left behind, according to Electromobility Poland. In addition, the brand expects that the Polish car market will also become increasingly dominated by EVs in the coming years, driven by the ultimately improving charging infrastructure. The company founded car brand Izera to ensure that it is the first Polish company to take advantage of this technological change.
Izera immediately shows two models to give an impression of what the brand will do in the coming years. We see a white SUV and a red hatchback, all-electric cars that, according to Izera, will both operate in the C-segment. Unlike many other start-ups that focus on EVs, Izera is not yet talking about the arrival of technologically extremely advanced models with a 100+ kWh battery pack, autonomous technology and dazzling sprint figures. Izera has set itself the goal to come up with spacious, comfortable electric powered family cars. Cars that “[…] should also be affordable for the Polish consumer “. Interesting!
Design
The design of the pair shown obviously deserves some attention. Although we see some similarities with existing cars in both models, while there is undoubtedly an image of a Jaguar I-Pace hung on the wall while sketching the SUV-like, it all looks very common. According to Izera, it has investigated what Polish consumers prefer to see and has drawn its cars on that basis. The lines of the presented EVs have been put on paper by Torino Design, a design studio founded 15 years ago by Roberto Piatti. A well-known name in car country. Piatti has held a high position at Stile Bertone, among others. Tadeusz Jelec, on the payroll design department of Jaguar, acted as design consultant. Maybe he’s responsible for the I-Pace touch. The interior looks very tidy, but given the amount of storage compartments and things like pull loops for getting in and out, it seems to be well thought out.
The pair are not yet ready for production, but the manufacturer emphasizes that the final production versions will not deviate greatly from this pair shown. Both models should go into production in 2023, although Izera honestly admits that it still has to overcome several hurdles. The ambition seems to be there. “It is difficult to think of Italy without thinking of Fiat. If you think of Poland, you will also think of Izera.”
Technic
Extensive technical specifications will keep Izera under control. However, the Polish company says that both the hatchback and the SUV can sprint to a speed of 100 km / h in less than 8 seconds. Izera will offer two variants of both models, the differences being in the capacity of the battery pack. The pair come up to 400 kilometers on a battery charge, so count on the arrival of versions with a shorter breath. Izera promises the arrival of a telephone application that allows you as an Izera driver to pre-heat your car when the car is hanging on the charger. LED lighting will be standard, the same applies to an infotainment system with a touch screen. Nothing earth-shattering, but as said, that is not at all the approach of Izera. Also refreshing in the car country. Izera also seems to have ‘just fine’ plans for safety systems. Forward Collision Warning, blind spot detection and road sign recognition will be available on the electric duo.
Izera seems to be a new player who is ambitious without losing control of reality. The focus is on Jan Modaal, at least in Poland. Izera is already talking about cars that can compete in the international market, but whether and when Izera becomes active outside Poland remains to be seen.
